Why beta!

Most of us were taught what to believe before we were ever allowed to ask why.

beta! exists to change that.

At its core, beta! is a space for ordinary people to explore the oldest human question:

Why am I here?

Not alone.
Not rushed.
Not talked at.

For thousands of years, people across cultures and centuries have wrestled with meaning, purpose, suffering, love, power, and truth.

beta! invites you to step into that long conversation—not as a student or a skeptic, but as an explorer.

We don’t tell you what to think.
We don’t ask you to sign onto anything.
We don’t rush you toward conclusions.

Instead, we walk the human story together—learning from voices who asked these questions long before us—and trust that clarity comes through honest exploration, not pressure.

beta! isn’t about having the right answers. It’s about creating space to ask the right questions—together.

Frequently asked questions

When is beta! going to launch?

Our goal? Unleash beta! in the Summer of 2026. We're caught up in the strategy web. Want the scoop? Reach out to jeffery@seekbeta.org.

What is beta!

beta! is a small-group exploration of the oldest human question:

Why am I here?

We walk through history together — Jews, Greeks, Romans, Jesus, Paul, Augustine, Aquinas, Luther, Lewis — not to tell you what to believe, but to understand how humans have searched for meaning across time.

Think of it as a hike, not a lecture.

Is beta! a church or Bible study?

No.

beta! is Christian-based, but it’s not a church, a class, or a program designed to recruit you into anything.

  • You won’t be preached at.
  • You won’t be asked to agree with anyone.
  • You won’t be told what to think.

But you will learn something!

Do I need to be Christian to join?

Not at all.

Some explorers are practicing Christians.

Some are curious.

Some are skeptical.

Some have been burned by religion and are cautiously reopening the door.

Curiosity is the only requirement.

What actually happens each week?

Each week includes:

  • A short, thoughtfully produced video
  • A guided conversation around one core question
  • Time to reflect using the Explorer Field Journal
  • Space to listen — not debate

This is slow thinking, not hot takes.

What is the Explorer Field Journal?

Great News!

It’s not a workbook.
It’s not homework.
It’s something you’ll want to keep.

Each week it:

  • Orients you in history (You Are Here)
  • Introduces a historical voice (Campfire Voice)
  • Poses a single, focused question
  • Gives space to write, reflect, or just sit with it

It's simply a journal of your path!
